Troop Up! ! Decentralized Animal Crossing My Neighbor Alice, A Must-play Game in Crypto Field in 2021

Lenny: Hi all! My name is Lenny Pettersson and the CMO of Antler Interactive. I have 15+ years of experience within the media & gaming industry. Before Antler I worked 8 years as Senior Marketing Manager for the Nordic & Baltic region at Turner — a Warner Media company. Vast experience in launching original IPs (such as Adventure Time, Ben 10 and Powerpuff Girls) for Cartoon Network.

Anastasia: My name is Anastasia. And I am working with Marketing together with the Antler Interactive team. My background: I have an MA in Business and Marketing. Ex-professional athlete and gamer. I am working closely with blockchain, crypto, and gaming and have vast experience in these fields.

Q1：After exploring the official website of My Neighbour Alice and reading the whitepaper, the first idea came to my mind is that isn’t it a decentralized Animal Crossing? Could you introduce this project and why you launch it?

Lenny：Since last autumn we’re working on a new big game, which has a greater scope than any of our previous titles, called My Neighbor Alice. My Neighbor Alice is a multiplayer builder game, where anyone can buy and own virtual islands, collect and build exciting items, and meet new friends. Inspired by successful games such as Animal Crossing as you mentioned. The game combines the best of the two worlds — a fun narrative for regular players who want to enjoy the gameplay experience as well as an ecosystem for players who want to collect and trade NFTs, even if they have no idea what an NFT is.

Our goal is to make My Neighbor Alice not just a game for blockchain players. But a game to introduce blockchain to millions of players.

Q2：Your whitepaper says that “My Neighbor Alice is not just a game for blockchain players. But it’s a game that could introduce blockchain to millions of players.” I wanna know how you can make this goal a reality.

Anastasia：My Neighbor Alice is primarily targeting non-crypto users, who can get easily onboarded from regular platforms, such as Steam and other major platforms. Despite its blockchain characteristics and in-game DeFi elements, only players will decide on how much they want to be involved in the game’s decentralised features and DeFi and thus keep blockchain as an optional functionality.

By making the game accessible to millions of users we have a much bigger audience to introduce blockchain features to which is very exciting:)

Q3：Which game platform will My Neighbour Alice be launched on? Since the frequency of mobile utilization keeps increasing, have you considered get launched on numerous platforms?

Lenny: Our primary platform to start with will be Steam, even though we’re planning for more platforms later. We´re always trying to keep track of how the gaming market develops and whether new platforms make sense for current or future project. So whether we´ll develop for mobile, cloud-based platforms, only the future will tell but we don´t rule anything out.

Q4：At present, we all think Axie a high-quality blockchain game with the best gameplay and game screen though the turnover of Axie pets has decreased recently. Though My Neighbor Alice and Axie are not the same type of game, how will My Neighbor Alice achieve game experience similar to Animal Crossing?

Lenny：

In my opinion, our primary feature to make our project stand out from other blockchain gaming projects is our clear focus on a target group that doesn’t know blockchain already. That is a big market and they would benefit from playing and spending time on games from which they can get rewards in the end. We plan to make it super easy and smooth for those players to start playing and to get into the game and enjoy it. No need to buy tokens just to get started.

Q5：My Neighbor Alice proposes DAO governance model, so i think it must bear DeFi concept, may i know how to undertake Staking Yield and Earning with My Neighbor Alice?

Anastasia：The game offers a new unobtrusive way of connecting an exciting game narrative, blockchain features and in-game DeFi elements. It also offers exclusive game tools such as NFT creator and Game Builder which have a potential to advance the gameplay experience both for players and developers. For this purpose, My Neighbor Alice involves Chromia Originals, an innovative protocol for creating and issuing NFTs, which offers a more extensive and complex functionality than standard NFTs. In this respect, My Neighbor Alice will be able to store much more data about items on-chain. Also, the logic of items will be defined in a free/libre/open-source game, running on-chain and being under the ultimate control of the players with the help of the DAO. Rich NFT DeFi functionalities.

The other innovation in the game is its decentralised governance model and DAO driven game development. ALICE token holders will be invited to join the Decentralised Autonomous Organization called the Community Council. Players get to vote on important game proposals and issues, additional functionality, new NFTs and approving NFTs created by users with the help of an NFT creator. The inspiration for the Community Council was taken from real-world experience with liquid democracy being in the centre of the model.

User1: What’s the biggest challenge of NFT+DeFi games in your opinion? What’s the current status and biggest difficulty of your project?

Anastasia: This is our most blockchain-focused project so far and therefore we still need to figure out the exact design for the blockchain features and it’s harder to estimate how long time they will take to implement. Fortunately we get lots of valuable support from ChromaWay (Chromia) who are experts in the field.

Our vision with My Neighbor Alice is to introduce millions of players to learn, be inspired by and start to use blockchain in their every day life of gaming.

User2: When can I join your game?

Lenny: The timeline for My Neighbor Alice is 1) Early prototype on Steam for token holders in January 2) Early access in 2021 summer 3) 1.0 version of the game in end of Q1/Q2 2022
